I had the time of my life last week when I attended Portland’s Fashionxt at the Vigot Shipyard in North Portland. Not only it was considered one of the premier and biggest fashion shows besides NYFW by Times Magazine, it was also a home run for some of the greatest Filipino Fashion Designers of this Year. I told myself that day, even though I had the cold, I was gonna make it there!
First night, with the help of the US Philippine Society, they brought four of the biggest names in fashion: Alan Del Rosario, Anthony Cruz Legarda, David Tupaz, and Francis Libiran.
Again, I had the cold but it was worth it. The designers didn’t disappoint at all. The show was amazing! Speaking of amazing, I’m in love and I mean hair standing on the back of my neck in love with Francis Libiran’s Spring 2014 Collection! I have first heard of Francis when he was featured on America’s Next Top Model last year where he had to design couture gowns made out of the Hello Kitty Collection from Sanrio. Not only was that a hit, soon after he started designing gowns for Tyra Banks as well. He is becoming a household name in his own right and when I met him and his gang Arsi Baltazar and Nat Manilag? They were soooooo hilarious and super friendly! Genuine, Funny, and Mega Down to Earth! Definitely gave me something to be proud of that Night. Proud to be me, Proud to be Filipino!
