5 Winter coats that should be on your radar.

 In Uncategorized

We’re in the thick of winter here in Portland. It actually started snowing earlier which is why I’m writing this blog post. Winter coats! Collecting coats and boots are my favorite. I don’t always wear them but it’s certainly good to have a few to change things up.

In this blog post, I want to showcase my favorite coats at the moment. Thanks to my content creator friends for being so fashionable *wink face* and showing us how to wear them. Some are classic pieces that one should definitely have as part of their collection and some are what is trending at the moment. Besides keeping you warm, coats and jackets are another way of elevating your fall and winter style.

PUFFER JACKETS

The puffer is a staple. It’s one of the warmest coats I own and it’s the easiest to style. Choose a stylish bright color for a change like this or more on the conventional silhouette that’s a little longer like this. I’ve seen the puffer every winter season and if you want something that will last, invest in something that has more down percentage for a full warmth for example. This one from Nike is warm and has kept me toasty through the winter cold of the PNW.

What’s trending now are faux leather puffers. I’ve seen them at stores and I feel like that’s a promising start to something we will be seeing throughout this winter months.

OVERSIZED DAD COATS

Thank you Hailey Beiber for introducing me to this trend. I had been on the hunt for this particular jacket and finally got my hands on it from Zara. Specifically, I wanted a camel-colored coat. Something you can just throw on over any outfit and still be able to make a statement look. If you’re trying out this type of coat, long length is ideal and the loser the better!

TEDDY COATS

Who doesn’t want a teddy coat for the winter? It’s warm, it’s cozy, and it’s incredibly stylish. Fun fact: the teddy coat was first introduced by designer house Max Mara back in 2013. Since then, we’ve seen plenty of versions up until now. Some have even added a few details and trims.

SHACKETS

Effortlessly styled by Candace, the Shacket is a statement piece.

This is the ultimate layering choice this winter. I’m sure by now, the Shacket has made its way on everyone’s radar and if you’re not familiar, it’s basically a combination of a shirt and a jacket that’s slightly oversized. This particular coat can be worn as a middle layer or worn by itself buttoned up. Either way, I’m in love with this trend and I have a feeling it’s here to stay.

MIXED TEXTURES/DETAILS

Lately, I’ve seen a few winter coats with different textures and details. From mixing prints, shearling with faux leather, to big pockets, these details definitely stand out. If you’re wanting to try this trend but somehow are not sure how to style, you can start by styling this with a monochromatic outfit. That way, the details stand out without being too flashy.

Whatever you choose to drape yourself with this winter, find something that you know you will use for the season. And it’s not too late to try a style that you don’t have in your closet. You never know, that could be your new favorite winter coat this season.

UNTIL THE NEXT ONE,

MARCH
