When I first moved to the United States, my mom told me that I will need to buy some turtlenecks because it gets cold during the winters.
I don’t know how I felt when I wore my first turtle neck back when I was 15. Coming from the Philippines, turtleneck is not something we wore at all. Looking back, I do remember it warming me up quite a bit. Fast forward to present time, I’m still rocking the turtleneck! I used to wear my turtleneck tighter but now, I look for a silhouette that’s more like a sweater and a little loose.

I think that turtlenecks are making a big comeback in the fashion world but it originated in the 19th century where they were worn by menial workers, sailors, officers and athletes. Then the TN, became associated with the “smarties” such as the academic peeps and the artists. In the 50’s it was a trend to wear turtlenecks to formal events, pretty much replaced the super boring suits. Even in the summer, Diane Keaton knew how to make it a fashion statement! So how do you feel about the turtleneck now?
UNTIL THE NEXT ONE,
MARCH
